| Mission Statement |
| The mission of the Moorestown Lacrosse Club is to provide:
- The opportunity for boys and girls to learn and enjoy lacrosse under the tutelage of quality coaches in a safe and instructural environment that promotes sportsmanship, that allows each player to play and develop their skills at a comfortable pace and that promotes an intensity that will sustain the players enthusiasm through high school. (Parents may be allowed to coach their child at the age level they have been chosen to coach, however, they will NOT be encouraged to coach their child in successive years, and may NOT be allowed to coach their child in successive years if other qualified coaches are available. Parent coaches will be under additional scrutiny beyond our other coaches to provide age appropriate fair play and participation for their child and others).
- Younger players the chance to learn the game of lacrosse without sacrificing other sports and activities vital to their overall and athletic development;
- Proper balance of competitive play and personal development that prepares the student for the next level of competitive lacrosse;
- Education/training of players, coaches and fans about the game of lacrosse while promoting sportsmanship, good work ethics, responsibility and respect for fellow players and the game;
- Support and development of skilled lacrosse players for Moorestown High School teams
- Ongoing support and endorsement of players in future endeavors such as college competition and jobs through a strong network of coaches , parents and business persons.
______________
(1) For example in grades 3-6 our goal is to teach the game to everyone. Those who attend the majority of practices get equal game time. MLC is opposed to sports specialization at this age because of the value of cross training in developing overall athleticism. Thus the reason MLC plays and competes only in its intended spring season.
(2) In preparation for the more competitive high school programs the boys 7th and 8th grade players are assigned to teams according to age and ability. At this stage of player development, ability does impact playing time at the higher level.
