posted 05/17/2012 Hello Families of The Moorestown Lacrosse Club:
The 2012 Moorestown Lacrosse Festival is almost here! This Saturday, May 19
th, we welcome 134 youth teams comprised of Girls’ 5
th-8
th grade and Boys’ 3
rd-8
th grade to participate in our annual event. We look forward to a beautiful sunny day of great competitive youth lacrosse and a fun day to be had by all of our players and visiting teams.
We ask for your help with one very important concern that will help to ensure that this year’s event is a fun, safe and successful one for everyone involved. With teams from all of our neighboring states which includes over 2,500 players and their families, coaches, referees, vendors and sponsors, parking at The High School and The Middle School will be a major issue as has always been. Our goal is to allow sufficient parking for our visiting teams upon their arrival and are asking a favor. We all know that feeling when you arrive at an away venue… maybe running a bit late…maybe getting lost on the way…unsure of the field location…we’ve all been there!
Please do what you can to ease the parking crunch. In order to open up parking for visitors, we have arranged a shuttle service to and from The First Presbyterian Church located at Riverton and Bridgeboro Roads. This shuttle will start at 7am and end at 4pm and will drop off at William Allen Middle School. Another option would be to consider carpooling, biking or even walking, if possible. If you must drive, please drop your children off and then try to find a spot either at The Church or on a nearby street instead of parking in the actual lots at the schools. Only Moorestown residents know about parking in The Stanwick Glen neighborhood (Signal Light Road, Stonehouse Road and Paddock Path) and then walking down the path to the fields. Of course, when parking on the street in any neighborhood, make sure to park legally and to respect the property of others.
Our three (3) food concessions (WAMS, Bridgeboro and Stadium), will be offering coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbuck’s, donuts, soft pretzels, candy, hoagies, hot dogs, pizza, soda, bottled water and Vitamin Water. For those teams “tailgating”, The Festival Committee strongly encourages your support by limiting your donations to your team’s tailgate to items not available at the Concessions and purchasing the coffee, donuts, etc. available at the Concessions. We do understand that our concession stands, although well-stocked, do not carry everything.
I CAN Food Drive! Moorestown Lacrosse Club will hold a canned food drive during The Festival. Help The MLC feed the hungry of South Jersey. Donations will be distributed through Live Civilly and the Moorestown Ministerium Food Pantry, the Food Bank of South Jersey and Cathedral Kitchen of Camden. All participating players and coaches are asked to donate at least ONE canned food item. Collection points will be clearly marked at The Festival Entrance Vendor Alley and Concession Areas.
When making your donations, please consider the following: canned meats (ham, tuna or chicken), canned fruits, cereals, pasta sauces, peanut butter & jelly, macaroni & cheese, pasta and rice products.
Just a friendly reminder: pets and grilling are not allowed on the school grounds during The Festival in order to protect the fields and The Festival participants. This will be strictly enforced.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and consideration. Good luck to all teams!
